Help my cat keeps on peeing on my bed?

So my daughter is a bed wetter and has peed on my bed more then once. Whenever my cat smells the spots she peed in he think's he can pee there too and for the last month it's been my bed that he has been peeing on. I keep my door closed at all times BUT my daughter keeps on sneaking into my room leaving my door open and my cat keeps on peeing on my bed and my blanket. Literally he goes and runs up to and jumps on my bed. Pee's in that spot and then runs out of my room. I've tried covering up the smell with febreeze and even tried washing the spot out with my carpet cleaner. I can't afford a new bed at this moment but even if I did get a new bed i'm pretty sure he would still pee on it. I need advice on how to get him to stop this. It's disgusting and i've gotten to the point where I don't want him any more. I already have to almost daily wash my daughters sheets I don't want to have to constantly wash my sheets and comforter as well. If I can't get him to stop he's gotta go someone please help. We live in a 3 room 2 bedroom house (three stories) there is plenty of room for him. I meant 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Oh he has been fixed since he was 10 weeks old so that's not the problem Mircat My daughter is 7 years old. A latch won't stop her, all she'll do is get a chair, place it front of my door and unlock the latch. And the enzyme cleaner takes a long time to work also as I said it won't matter. He now goes and runs up to my bed jumps up and pees. It won't matter if he can't smell it or not now. Also my cats can jump over pet gates and my daughter knows how to take them down. That isn't going to work.

If the urine got into the mattress then you're sunk. The only way is to deal with a mattress is an enzyme cleaner into the mattress and take it outside in the sun to let it dry. Wash the bedding and add white vinegar to the wash to help remove urine scent. Then you can use Febreze to help neutralize anything that's left. Go to the hardware store and get an inexpensive latch and attach it high so your daughter can't reach it and keep the door closed! The cat is behaving normally. You want to punish the cat for something your daughter started and you let keep happening because you don't latch the door? Put a pet gate at the top of the stairs at the level where your bedroom is.

Get a cage for the cat If theres no room for it to stay in
Lol | Oct 20, 2013
maybe talk to your daughter how important it is to close the door and explain her what problem you've got! Maybe lock the door? Maybe your cat doesn't want to pee where it should, try to figure what's the problem! You can also try to get your cat out of your home during night!

My dog nipped someone in the face and drew blood?

Today I picked my dog up from the pet hotel then took her to the local dog wash where we gave her a bath I was drying her off and I asked an associate about a collar she gave one to my husband and he put it on her wrong so she said I'll do it she came into the gated area and my dog growled we said no that's bad and the lady proceeded to put the collar on the dog when she got close to her the dog lunged at her and nipped her in the face in 2 places and drew blood.should I not trust my dog or put her in a no kill shelter or is this something that can be controlled this is not the first time she lunged at someone she did it to the vet after she took her temp rectally but we thought she did that cause the vet hurt her this time the lady did nothing to her.

You need to take her to a trainer who can help you how to help her work through her mistrust of people, it's nothing to be ashamed about but she needs to understand that all people are not out to hurt her she responded by biting because she mistrusts people.
Ice Cat | Oct 19, 2013
Fear biters will bite if they are afraid. Someone taller than the dog hovering or moving in too quickly will cause panic in some dogs. Your dog can be trained, but until you do so you might want to muzzle her in public until better trained and better socialized. You are lucky someone did not sue at this point. Fear bitters take vigilance and you need to spend a lot of time training her gently but with a vocal sounds unpleasant to dogs such as sh-h-h-h-h at the *first* sign of aggression. Celar works will all sorts of dogs which people have failed to rehabilitate. He says that it is the handler often who does not work consistently enough. Do not put your dog down or take to shelter until you have tried to train properly. The other option is to give the dog to a trainer that has experience to rehabilitate such a personality. I think with enough reading and patience you can do it !
CDog | Oct 19, 2013
I don't think it's necessary to get rid of her. Just don't let anyone get near her face, especially when she's in an uncomfortable situation. She was in a strange place, had just been groomed (after being boarded) she gave a warning growl, yet a strange lady still approached her with a collar.
Katie | Oct 19, 2013
Please DO NOT give up on her and put her down or take her to a shelter. If it does come to this please find a Rescuse Group to take her she will not do well in a shelter environment. She sounds like she is scared of people and tried to tell you "I don't trust this person or situation." The woman should have stopped at the growl and give your dog time to adjust to her or told you how to do it. A muzzle is the first step, when in public, secondly would be a good trainer. To learn how to apply the muzzle I would recommend watching Caesar "the dog whisper". Making your dog fear or dislike the muzzle would make things worst. And tell everyone that is around your dog his basic training "NO touch, NO talk, NO eye contact." I have some experience as I have a deaf dog that fears people to. Luckily for me he doesn't bite as long as I am there. I have gotten a trainer and we are working on these same issues.
CF_ | Oct 19, 2013
Your dog was probably stressed from being in the hotel and then the groomer - poor dog just wanted to go home I think. It seems a bit premature to start talking about surrendering your dog to the shelter. Your dog was upset and stressed. Is your dog vaccinated for rabies? If not the bite needs to be reported and your dog needs to be put on a 10 days rabies hold. http://therealowner.com/dogs/when-should -dog-bites-be-reported/ I would consider muzzling the dog in situations where this might reoccur, but otherwise I think you do not need to worry too much. More socialization should help

    Not bad, but....

We have 2 baby gates the Regalo Easy Step Walk Thru and the Munchkin Easy Close Metal Gate. I would recommend the later. There is no real problem with the Regalo, the Munchkin is just better. 1. The Munchkin lock is a lift and squeeze function designed to be done with one hand, the Regalo requires that you pull back and lift up which can be done with one hand, but is far easier with two hands (and let's face it if you have toddler you never have 2 free hands!) 2. The Munchkin has an additional 3rd lock feature at the bottom of the gate which also serves to determine which way you want the door to swing (it can also be left up so that the door swings both ways). The Regalo only swings 1 direction and has no additional lock feature. 3. The Munchkin will lock automatically when pulled closed. The Regalo must be manually locked (a 1 handed operation but still 1 addition action each time you go in and out.)So while there is nothing really bad about the Regalo, there are better... 2/5 HBLC "HBLC" (Franklin, MA United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Mom made me give this four stars!

Dear Amazon,I would like to express a great deal of dissatisfaction with the gate you sent. First of all, you shipped it too quickly. It got here a whole day before it was supposed to. Second, it was way too easy to install. One minute, I could get into all kinds of trouble in the kitchen: eating the kitties' food, drooling on the floor, swarming mommy when she is trying to cook--I had it made! The next minute, this gate stopped me from doing all those fun things. It was that fast. Now mommy just walks through, and I have to sit on the other side, looking sad. But that's not the worst part. The cats can just walk right through the little door in the bottom! Now, if I want to chase them, I have to wait until they come back through. Can you imagine the kind of attitude they've been giving me? I tried getting through the little door, and could only fit my head through the hole. I'm not that big either--my vet says I am only 50 pounds (although I am growing fast, being a... 4/5 Alexandria Zertuche (Round Rock, TX) - See all my reviews, November 16, 2011

    pretty good gate

I received this gate a few days ago. It's the first one I have bought that has the door. All the others are the wooden ones that you have to take down to go by it. With four dogs, and some that do not get along (must be kept separate), that was getting very old. I am using the pressure mounting, even though I am using it on stairs (I don't have any children in the house and the dogs don't jump up on the gate so I'm not worried about it falling down).Since this review is kind of long, one note up front in case you don't make it all the way through. When you take the gate out of the box and get ready to install, DON'T cut off all the zip ties right away. Leave the one on that holds the door closed. You can thank me later :)I like having the little door. Where "little" is the important word. I am a pretty small person, and that's a good thing! I am about 5'7" and 130 lbs. Excellent gate - we now have two of these

We have purchased many gates since our two kids arrived, and this one is the first one I like. Actually, we love this gate. The other plastic, pressure mounted ones are ugly and impossible to use. We gave those away. Then we bought wooden ones that were so flimsy they fell apart. Then we bought the XT Superyard, which is great as portable enclosure, but simply is not a gate for room entry or stairs. I was able to mount this gate in just a few minutes. The assembly was very intuitive, and they DO provide simple instructions. The gate is sturdy, surprisingly stylish, and works, very, very well. Only because we have wasted so much time and money do we truly appreciate this particular model. FINALLY a gate that works as promised!.I will note that the auto-close feature can be defeated if the turn knobs are not adjusted properly. Other reviewers complain that the gate ceases to close after a bit of use. But this is only a matter of adjusting the knobs properly - not just the... 5/5 William Moorefield "Tourpilot" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews, May 12, 2010

Video Review on the Summer Infant Walk-Thru Gate

Customer Video Review Length:: 3:53 MinsThere is a lot to like about Summer Infant Walk-Thru gate, but it also has some (in my eyes) serious drawbacks.Pros -+ Installation is relatively painless+ Sturdy construction - this is a product I am confident in leaving in place without fear of accidents+ Nice appearance - it certainly does not look cheap+ Has the ability to adapt to span openings from 28-48" - this is the SPAN that the entire gate covers "from rail-to-wall"Areas for improvement- The gate opening is just not wide enough - I dread trying to go through the gate with suitcases or anything of width. This is different than the gates span ... what I am referring to is the actual fixed opening that you walk through.- The catch mechanism sticks into the opening by about 2" - It is positioned perfectly to catch onto clothes and pockets. I see things getting caught and ripped in our immediate future.- For some reason our... 3/5 CKE (USA) - See all my reviews, June 20, 2010

Sturdy and solid, some installation caveats (baseboard)

Installed two of these on a stairway. The construction is solid, quality materials. The only issue I had was that the width of my opening is variable top versus bottom due to the baseboard, and the difference was right in between needing the small extension and the large extension. The way the extensions work is if your doorframe is 28-31.5in, you use just the gate, if it's 32-36" you use a small extender, 36.5-40.5 you use a long extender, etc. My particular stairway had a baseboard at 35.5" apart, but at the top it was 37" apart. Using a smaller extension made it unstable at the top, and the large extension was too big to fit in between the baseboards. The solution is to suspend it over the baseboard so you have a consistent width, or do some finagling with the tighteners so you only tighten on one side. Neither is necessarily optimal. For your reference, this is from the instructions, so you can measure your doorway properly:28" - 31.5": no... 4/5 J. Finally!

This was the tallest gate I could find, it's metal, so it's really heavy-duty, it has a door, so no more stepping over and it has a cat-door. This gate has everything you need if you own a big dog and cat - it's such a relief! It solved all our problems with one gate and the cat-door was a clever bonus. My only concern is that if you brace the gate in the doorway with tension as tightly as you'd like, the door won't open - basically the tension pinches the gate sides against the person-door - and I don't really see a way around that, design-wise. So our gate is in place with a little less tension than we would like since it's meant to keep a big dog contained, but they do provide you with holders that you would have to screw into the doorways to hold the gate in place, which we plan on doing if our dog figures out that she could probably get the gate out of the doorway if she put in a little effort. It also comes with an extension for wider doorways, which we... 4/5 J. Worrisome issue for cats

FINAL SUMMARY (2013):It's pretty well built, I haven't seen anything better. We've used ours for several years in 2 houses. It still works and looks like it's new.Cats may get their head stuck or may be able to squeeze through the bars.Expect to make some modifications. For example, Rebecca has a pic of her mods on the product page. We only had to tape a yardstick to the bar on the door where it opens to stop our cats. The reason for the low rating is only because of the issue with cats getting through or, rather frighteningly, getting stuck. You can most likely make some minor changes to have a 4-star gate.--------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE (2008):This morning I found one of the cats with her head stuck through the gate. She got panicky and struggled for a few seconds to escape. (This is a fully grown, typical sized house cat.) I'll have to add some extra bars or a panel to the gate to... 2/5 D. easy to use in the right space, but kind of cheap

I just received this and it installed in just a few minutes. Anyone else reviewing this that claimed it was too hard to open with one hand probably has it tightened too far. There is a fine balance between too tight to open easily and too loose to be stable. But it only took a couple twists of the pressure mounts for me to determine the right balance.I read the other reviews before purchasing and carefully measured the opening I planned to block with this gate to make sure it would work. Because, as other reviewers have stated, this is not a gate that fits openings 29" - 52" like the product description lists. This gate will fit in an opening that is approximately 29-32", roughly 35-38" with just the 6" extension, approximately 42-45" with just the 12" extension, and roughly 48-51" with both extensions. Unfortunately, if your opening falls in those in between sizes, you're going to find that you can't get a good fit. Either it's too big with the extension(s) added... 3/5 Z. Should have ordered sooner

I spent 3 months undecided about what gate to buy to keep our small dog (about 6 pounds) in our kitchen area but still allow easy access through the doorway for our family including 2 children ages 5 and 7. Our doorway was exactly 48 inches (4 feet) wide and we wanted something that was pressure mounted so as not to have to drill into the wood. We have had the gate now 2 days and I only wish I had ordered sooner. Here are my thoughts about the gate:1) Cheap - wow - for a metal wide, step through gate, you certainly can't beat this price (bonus - even has super saver shipping!)2) Easy to install - my 5 year old son "helped" me. Was out of the box and ready for use in under 10 minutes. Notes - we have exactly a 48 inch opening and used both extensions (6 inch and 12 inch). If you have a space that is just under that - say 47 or 47 1/2, I don't think this gate will work for you with these extensions. We had JUST enough space to get the gate in place and... 4/5 YC (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Only for Very Small Dogs

0 3/5 Jones (England and USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Richell Wood Freestanding Pet Gate, Large, Autumn Matte Finish (Misc.) This gate is very easy to assemble and looks really good. Sadly for me, my Boston Terrier puppy- only 9lbs- is already able to climb over it. Only if you have a very, very small dog should you buy a 20 inch high gate. The photos of a full grown Collie relaxing by something of this height is very deceptive! My guess is that Collie casually stepped over the gate straight after the photo shoot. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 7, 2007

Smart dogs will defeat this gate!

0 3/5 Sheltie Mom - See all my reviews This review is from: Richell Wood Freestanding Pet Gate, Large, Autumn Matte Finish (Misc.) We purchased this for our two shelties, age 14 weeks and 2 years. We have a wide opening to block so the size is great. My only complaint, however, is that a smart resourceful dog will figure out how to move this. It only took my 2 year old sheltie 5 minutes. He would simply stick his nose in between the bars & nudge it out of the way. We found a way to secure it so he couldn't move it but it may be only a matter of time. Once our puppy is housetrained, the gate will be history. Well made though and the price was the best I could find for this gate. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 2, 2007

0 4/5 Will Howell - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Carlson Mini Tuffy Metal Expandable Pet Gate (Misc.) The gate is almost indestructable but this particular one is quite short and if your dog is a good jumper dont even bother ordering this item. But overall the quality was surprisingly good and its not too hard to get into place, either between a door or walls in a hallway. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 11, 2013

Not worth the money... Poorly made product!

I purchased these gates not to hold back my 16 lb. dog, but just to let her know a certain area was off limits. She is well behaved enough to understand barriers. But nonetheless, I did find these gates to be very poorly made, lacking in quality and the stain WILL rub off on clothing, walls, etc. I was playing with my dog and a small plastic ball hit one of the upright rods and it just snapped and broke into two pieces. After taking a closer look, we noticed many knots in the wood making many weak points - which is exactly how & where the break was made in the rod that was hit. Also, the gates (yes, we purchased 2) are warped and will not stay steady on a flat surface - they did better on carpeted area.We tried contacting the seller with our complaints and received no response after several... 1/5 LFP (Wescosville, PA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lightweight Doggie Gate

0 4/5 Chicago Blizzard - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pet Parade Folding Pet Gate (Misc.) This is a very, very lightweight gate that folds nicely for storage when not in use. It probably would not work too well if your dog would be inclined to "challenge" the gate as it is so lightweight and is free-standing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 20, 2011

    Stack of low grade sticks

0 1/5 Nuts4u - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pet Parade Folding Pet Gate (Misc.) This Pet Parade Folding Gate no longer exists here. It quickly morphed into a a pile of low grade sticks. It stood for about two weeks, disintegrating one section at a time. Extremely flimsy, held together soley by friction. No screws (except on hinges). No Glue anywhere; the gate might still be around had the sticks been glued. The wood was quite soft, and the pegs for the frame were way too small and broke easily. The first section literally fell apart in my hands as I lifted the gate to move it a few inches. Second section broke up when the gate tipped over; no force except mild tipping involved. Last section crumbled when bowled over by bare feet. This item was junk, and could be a safety hazard.Takes the prize for Worst Internet Purchase Ever in this household. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 6, 2011

    Great gate for the money

0 4/5 Kevin - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Regalo Easy Step Extra Tall Walk Thru Gate - White (Baby Product) Good affordable sturdy gate that gets the job done.I was a little hesitant after reading other reviews saying small animals could get through between the bars.I have to say the spacing was closer than I expected. Our small dog can't get through the bars.Since the description doesn't list the spacing I measured, it is 2 1/4" between the bars. It's sturdy and tall enough to keep animals that can jump out. Installation only took a couple of minutes, and you do not need to drill holes or use the pads if putting it into a doorway. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 12, 2011

Maybe ok for animals, not that great for kids, not necessarily pressure mounted

I just tried to install this gate this past weekend. It had a great price (at a local store), and I've used Regalo's hook-on dining chairs (with satisfaction). However, I was disappointed in this gate for a couple of reasons (noted below). I have a KidCo Center Gateway installed on the bottom of my stairs - and it is truly pressure mounted - no screwing/nailing involved. However, the Kidco is "short" or regular sized. I haven't tried any other brand of gate.Cons:*This is not a truly pressure gate as the description says. You have to put screws in your wall to install little cups on the wall. The description says how easy it is to put and take down - ummmm - are you going to put these screws in the wall everywhere you go? The directions say many times you have to mount these screws/cups.*Installed without the screws/cups and pressure mounted as tight as I could (I did not need an extension)...the gate seemed flimsy for a toddler to stand there and... 3/5 Toodles! Maneki Neko -- This is the legend of the Maneki Neko: In the 17th century, there was a rundown and poverty-stricken temple in Tokyo. The temple's priest was very poor, but he shared what little food he had with his pet cat, Tama. One day, a wealthy and important man was caught in a storm while hunting and he took refuge under a big tree near the temple. While he waited for the storm to pass, the man noticed a cat beckoning him to come inside the temple gate. This was so startling that he left the shelter of the tree to have a closer look at this unusual cat. At that moment, the tree was struck by lighting. As a result, the wealthy man became friends with the poor priest, and the temple became prosperous. The priest and his cat never went hungry again. When Tama died he was buried in the Goutokuji Temple's cat cemetery with respect and love, and the Maneki Neko was made in honor of him. A Maneki Neko in your place of business, your home or on your website is said to bring in good luck and visitors. Maneki Neko is Japanese for "beckoning cat." The message he's holding says "Please come in. You are welcome!" and he is beckoning you with his paw . (In Japan, the gesture of beckoning is pretty much the reverse of the gesture used in the West.) Whether you believe in this kind of thing or not, he's a cute little cat with a gracious message, and he does brighten up a home!
